Back when I was in chiropractic school, I was on a rugby scholarship—studying by day, training by night, doing everything I could to keep pushing forward.
Then my foot went out.
At first it was during practice… then workouts… then I couldn’t even push off or cut using my left leg.
I barely got through that first season. I honestly thought I wouldn’t play rugby again after school.
Then came the abs.
During the next preseason, I tore an abdominal muscle. Got some passive care, did a bit of rehab… enough to get out of pain. But I didn’t finish the plan. It was discouraging. I was tired. The season was rough.
By spring, it flared up again—worse. I was over it.
That’s when something shifted.
I stopped going through the motions and started doing the real work.
I’d spend 30–45 minutes most nights rolling around on the gym floor—feeling, experimenting, learning what my body needed.
It wasn’t boring. It was sacred. It was healing.
Not just for my body—for my soul.
At the same time, I was interning in the rehab department at school. I was learning the science by day and testing it in my own body at night. It changed everything.
Why This Matters
This experience is why I coach the way I do.
Why I slow people down.
Why I don’t just treat pain—I teach awareness, movement, and ownership.
Not everyone’s ready for that. But the ones who are?
They don’t just get out of pain.
They become someone new.
